Liverpool Fans Furious Over Florian Wirtz’s Comments After Germany’s 2-0 Win

Liverpool Fans Unhappy With Florian Wirtz After Germany Victory

Liverpool supporters have reacted angrily to comments made by Florian Wirtz following Germany’s 2-0 Nations League victory over Serbia.

Wirtz delivered an impressive performance as the No. 10, scoring one of Germany’s goals and earning praise for his display. After the match, however, his explanation of why he performed better than he has recently done for Liverpool sparked criticism among some supporters.

Speaking after the game, Wirtz said the movement of the players around him made his job easier and allowed him to perform at his best.

The 23-year-old joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in a reported £116 million deal in 2025. His first Premier League campaign produced five goals and three assists in 33 appearances, while he has yet to score and has registered just one assist in six appearances this season.

His recent form has attracted criticism from sections of the media and some former players, including Jamie Carragher.

Following his comments after Germany’s win, several Liverpool fans took to social media to express their frustration. Some felt Wirtz was placing too much emphasis on his teammates rather than taking responsibility for his own performances.

One supporter argued that the Premier League offers far less space than international football and said Wirtz still needs to adapt to the demands of playing for Liverpool.

Another fan questioned whether Wirtz was effectively blaming his teammates for his struggles, while another pointed out that playing Serbia for Germany is very different from facing Premier League opposition.

Liverpool’s next major challenge will be a meeting with Manchester City at Anfield, and supporters will be watching closely to see whether Wirtz can reproduce the form he showed for Germany.

He is also expected to feature prominently when Germany face Greece on Sunday.
