EFL CLUB MAKES MOVE FOR ARSENAL WONDERKID MAX DOWMAN

Luton Town Have Made Multiple Attempts to Sign Arsenal Wonderkid Max Dowman on Loan

Luton Town have reportedly explored the possibility of bringing Arsenal youngster Max Dowman to Kenilworth Road on loan, according to the club’s senior scout and ambassador Mick Harford.

The 16-year-old has continued to attract attention after another impressive performance for Arsenal. Dowman scored twice in the Gunners’ 4-2 Carabao Cup victory over Ipswich Town, taking his first-team tally to three goals in 14 appearances since making his senior debut in August 2025.

Luton’s interest is understood to have been driven by manager Jack Wilshere, who has reportedly spoken to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on several occasions about a potential loan deal for Dowman.

However, Harford admitted he does not expect Arsenal to send the teenager out on loan at this stage.

Dowman already has a connection with Wilshere, having played under him for Arsenal’s Under-18s. During that spell, he recorded two goals and seven assists in 12 appearances.

Harford also drew comparisons between Dowman and Wilshere, who famously broke into Arsenal’s first team as a teenager.

“Dowman looks more of a wide player, but he is a wonderful talent,” Harford said, while suggesting the youngster could earn more opportunities if he continues to impress.

He added that age should not be a barrier for a player who is ready to compete at the highest level, describing Dowman as a potential superstar.

Wilshere made his Arsenal debut at just 16 under Arsene Wenger in 2008 and eventually made 197 appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals and registering 28 assists.

Meanwhile, Wilshere is approaching a year in charge of Luton Town. The Hatters currently sit 12th in League One after six matches this season, having finished seventh last campaign and narrowly missed out on the play-offs.

For now, Arsenal appear keen to continue developing Dowman within their own squad rather than sending the highly-rated teenager out on loan.
