Bayern Chief Breaks Silence on Barcola Transfer With Subtle Liverpool & Luis Díaz Dig

Bayern Munich Chief Reveals Truth Behind Barcola Transfer With Luis Díaz Dig at Liverpool

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has opened up about the club’s failed pursuit of Bradley Barcola, admitting Liverpool’s huge £123 million deal was simply beyond Bayern’s reach.

The French winger joined Liverpool from Paris Saint-Germain this summer in a blockbuster transfer, despite attracting interest from Bayern and Arsenal.

Eberl revealed that Bayern had seriously considered signing Barcola, whom he already knew from his time at RB Leipzig. However, the German giants were put off by the enormous transfer fee.

According to Eberl, Bayern’s decision to sign Luis Díaz from Liverpool for £65.5 million last summer was expensive but still nowhere near the level required to land Barcola.

Eberl also praised Díaz for his ability to attract supporters, saying the Colombian is the kind of player who brings fans into the stadium.

His comments could be interpreted as a subtle swipe at Liverpool, suggesting Díaz has a stronger commercial and crowd-pulling impact than their new £123 million signing.

Barcola made his first Liverpool start against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday, but his evening was cut short when he appeared to suffer a calf problem.

The 23-year-old went down shortly before the hour mark and was eventually replaced by Victor Munoz. However, Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola later reassured supporters that Barcola was only suffering from cramps.

Iraola explained that Barcola is still building up his fitness after missing Liverpool’s pre-season, which was why the club decided to take him off.

Barcola had previously made his Liverpool debut as a substitute against Ipswich Town, entering shortly after the hour mark.
