Liverpool are pursuing a 25-year-old defender to strengthen a key position, but the player’s current club is unwilling to negotiate a transfer.

Liverpool are reportedly targeting Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven as a potential long-term replacement for the expected departure of Ibrahima Konaté this summer, but securing his signature looks extremely difficult.

The 25-year-old has emerged as one of the Premier League’s standout centre-backs, known for his exceptional pace, recovery skills, and dominant defensive performances. He is seen at Liverpool as an ideal fit to strengthen the backline alongside Virgil van Dijk.

However, Tottenham are unwilling to negotiate a sale. New Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi is said to regard Van de Ven as a key figure in his defensive plans and wants to build the team around him as they aim to improve after a difficult season.

While Liverpool’s interest is understandable given the Dutch defender’s quality, Spurs are determined to keep hold of him. With his contract running until 2029, any potential move would require a huge offer before talks could even begin, making a transfer this summer highly unlikely.
