Tottenham Hotspur have responded to growing speculation surrounding Pedro Porro’s future after reports claimed the defender is losing confidence in Roberto De Zerbi’s project and could be tempted by moves to Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Porro has established himself as one of Spurs’ most influential players, thanks to his creativity and attacking contributions from right-back. His performances for Spain over the summer further highlighted his quality, as he helped his country win the World Cup and earned a place in the tournament’s best XI.
However, despite signing an improved contract in June, the 27-year-old is reportedly questioning whether Tottenham can offer him the opportunity to compete for major trophies.
According to Football Insider, Porro wants to play at the highest possible level and may consider leaving if he believes his ambitions cannot be achieved in north London.
Both Real Madrid and Barcelona have reportedly been monitoring his situation, with the Spanish giants potentially offering him an attractive opportunity to continue his career at the highest level.
Tottenham make their position clear
Despite the growing transfer speculation, Tottenham are reportedly relaxed about the interest in their right-back and have no intention of selling him during the January transfer window.
The club reportedly hope an improvement in results this season will convince Porro to remain at Spurs rather than pursue a move to Spain.
However, if the defender continues to push for an exit, Tottenham are prepared to demand a substantial transfer fee to protect their investment.
TEAMtalk previously reported that Spurs value Porro at around £75 million. If a deal is completed at that price, it would break the transfer record for a right-back, surpassing Achraf Hakimi’s reported £57 million move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2021.
For now, Tottenham appear determined to keep hold of one of their most important players, but Porro’s long-term future remains a major talking point.
Will Pedro Porro stay at Tottenham, or will Real Madrid or Barcelona eventually convince him to leave? 👀
