‘Growing Frustration’: Reporter Reveals What Fulham Are Doing to Annoy Andoni Iraola at Anfield
Andoni Iraola was reportedly becoming increasingly frustrated by Fulham’s approach during Liverpool’s Premier League clash at Anfield on Saturday.
BBC Sport reporter Aadam Patel, speaking from the touchline, revealed that the Liverpool boss was unhappy with how long Fulham were taking over throw-ins and restarts.
The Reds struggled to produce the intensity and urgency they showed during their midweek Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid, while Fulham appeared comfortable slowing the game down and controlling the tempo.
Patel said: “Liverpool are lacking the urgency we saw on Wednesday, while Andoni Iraola is getting increasingly frustrated at how long Fulham are taking for their throw-ins.”
He also noted that frustration was spreading around Anfield, with supporters becoming increasingly restless as Fulham continued to dictate the pace of the match.
The visitors’ deliberate approach to restarts appeared to disrupt Liverpool’s rhythm and make it difficult for Iraola’s side to build sustained pressure.
As half-time approached, Fulham had arguably been the more composed side, keeping possession well and limiting Liverpool’s attacking threat.
Iraola will now be hoping to use the interval to reset his players and demand a much higher level of intensity after the break.
