Spurs Make Major Legal Move After Richarlison’s Second Transfer Deal Collapses

Spurs Take Legal Precaution After Richarlison’s Second Transfer Move Collapses

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly taken an important step to strengthen their legal position amid the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Richarlison’s future.

The Brazilian striker started Tottenham’s opening Premier League match of the season against Brentford, a game Spurs lost 3-0 under Roberto De Zerbi.

However, following the arrival of several new attacking players and Richarlison’s desire to leave the club, he was left out of Tottenham’s Premier League squad.

His representatives were subsequently reported to be considering legal action in an attempt to have his contract terminated. Richarlison remains under contract until June 2027, with Spurs holding an option to extend the deal.

There had also been reports that his camp could approach FIFA in an effort to secure an immediate exit.

Tottenham Make Key Decision

Despite initially appearing destined to spend the season away from the first team, reports from ESPN Brazil claim Richarlison has now returned to first-team training rather than joining Tottenham’s Under-21 squad.

The decision is understood to be significant from a legal perspective.

By continuing to involve Richarlison in first-team training, Tottenham can demonstrate that they are still willing to provide him with access to the senior squad. This could strengthen the club’s position should his representatives attempt to argue that his contract should be terminated.

Another Transfer Falls Apart

Richarlison’s future became even more uncertain after another proposed transfer collapsed.

With several European transfer windows already closed, he had been linked with a move to Trabzonspor. That deal ultimately failed to materialise.

A return to Brazil then appeared possible, with Vasco da Gama reportedly agreeing a deal with Tottenham worth around £20 million before the Brazilian transfer deadline.

However, the move broke down after Richarlison was unable to reach an agreement over personal terms.

Reports suggested Vasco wanted a longer-term arrangement with payments spread over time, while Richarlison preferred a short spell with his boyhood club before potentially returning to Europe or moving to the Middle East.

As a result, the Vasco move is now off, leaving Qatar as one of the few remaining destinations where Richarlison could potentially move, with its transfer window still open.

Richarlison later addressed the failed move on social media, revealing that he had been very close to returning to Vasco but had always made it clear that he wanted to stay there only until December.

He also thanked Vasco supporters for their messages and admitted that, despite everyone’s efforts, the transfer ultimately could not be completed.

The situation leaves Richarlison in a difficult position at Tottenham, while the club appears determined to protect itself legally as the dispute over his future continues.
