Journalist Provides Fresh Update on Liverpool’s Pursuit of Lamine Camara

Journalist Reveals Latest on Liverpool’s Interest in Lamine Camara

Liverpool are reportedly keeping a close eye on Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara after his proposed deadline-day move to Chelsea unexpectedly fell through.

The 22-year-old Senegal international was on the verge of joining Chelsea in a deal worth around £47 million, with the Blues viewing him as a potential replacement for Enzo Fernandez. However, Monaco ultimately pulled the plug on the transfer.

That development could give Liverpool an opportunity, with the Reds reportedly making it clear that Camara remains on their radar and could make another move for him in 2027.

Liverpool Have Already Made Contact

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool contacted both Camara’s representatives and Monaco before the transfer deadline to reaffirm their long-term interest in the midfielder.

Jacobs reports that senior Liverpool figures made several calls, including on deadline day, telling Camara that he was high on their list of targets for 2027 if his Chelsea move failed to materialise.

Liverpool were never planning to sign another midfielder this summer following Curtis Jones’ departure to Inter Milan. Their stance could have changed only if Alexis Mac Allister had also left the club.

Camara, meanwhile, reportedly remains determined to play in the Premier League, meaning a January departure from Monaco cannot completely be ruled out.

Could Camara Become Liverpool’s Next Midfield Target?

Liverpool’s interest in Camara is understandable given his profile. The midfielder combines energy with technical ability and can operate either as a deeper midfielder or as a more attacking No.8.

Those qualities could make him a strong fit for the style of football Liverpool are looking to develop under Andoni Iraola.

Rather than rushing into a replacement for Curtis Jones, Liverpool appear prepared to wait for the right opportunity. A January move is possible, but a transfer in 2027 could be the more realistic scenario.

Monaco may have little reason to sell immediately, while Liverpool have time to assess whether Camara is the ideal long-term addition to their midfield.

If the Senegal star’s ambition to play in the Premier League remains unchanged, Liverpool could already have an advantage when negotiations eventually begin.
