Myles Lewis-Skelly Future Clear as Man United and Chelsea Reject Transfer Opportunity
Myles Lewis-Skelly’s future at Arsenal has become clearer after both Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly decided against signing the young defender this summer.
The 19-year-old made his breakthrough during the 2024/25 campaign and quickly emerged as one of Arsenal’s most promising academy graduates. He also earned his first England appearance under Thomas Tuchel and has made 75 senior appearances for the Gunners.
However, limited playing time last season led to speculation over his future. Manchester United were reportedly interested in the versatile defender after their pursuit of Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall failed, while Chelsea were also offered the opportunity to sign him.
Arsenal were believed to have placed a £45 million valuation on Lewis-Skelly, which would represent pure profit for the North London club.
Despite the interest, The Telegraph reports that both Chelsea and Manchester United have rejected the chance to sign him this summer.
Chelsea reportedly feel comfortable with their defensive options after bringing in Pep Chavarria from Rayo Vallecano for a deal worth up to £19 million. The Blues are also said to have never seriously considered making an offer for Lewis-Skelly after an intermediary informed them that the player was available.
Manchester United, despite previously admiring the Arsenal youngster, have similarly decided not to pursue a deal this summer.
The decision leaves Lewis-Skelly’s exact role at Arsenal uncertain. Mikel Arteta currently appears to favour Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie at left-back, while the arrival of Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes could make it even harder for Lewis-Skelly to earn opportunities in midfield.
The defender has reportedly been offered to other Premier League clubs, although Liverpool are not believed to be among them.
Despite the increased competition for places, Lewis-Skelly is reportedly determined to remain at Arsenal and fight for his position rather than leave the club this summer.
Kyle Walker linked with Everton move
While Lewis-Skelly appears set to remain at Arsenal, another England defender could be on the move.
According to reports, Everton are interested in signing Kyle Walker, potentially giving the 36-year-old an opportunity to return to the Premier League after Burnley’s relegation last season.
Walker joined Burnley from Manchester City last summer in a £5 million deal and signed a two-year contract. Everton manager David Moyes is reportedly interested in bringing the experienced right-back to the club, having previously attempted to sign him twice.
Everton are also reportedly considering Crystal Palace defender Daniel Munoz as they look to strengthen their defence before the transfer window closes.
