Liverpool loanee Harvey Elliott endured a frustrating evening as Valencia suffered a painful 2-1 defeat to Villarreal in La Liga on Saturday.
The 23-year-old midfielder came off the bench in the 70th minute, hoping to help Valencia turn the game around. However, things took an unexpected turn in the closing stages.
Elliott received his first yellow card in the 89th minute after angrily protesting a free-kick decision he disagreed with. Instead of calming down, he continued arguing with the referee and was booked again just a minute later, resulting in a red card.
His dismissal made an already difficult evening even worse, as Villarreal went on to score a dramatic winner deep into stoppage time.
😔 A LOAN SPELL TO FORGET?
Elliott’s struggles at Valencia continue. The Liverpool midfielder has yet to register a goal or an assist in six La Liga appearances this season, raising further questions about his current form and future.
Could this frustrating spell affect his chances of returning to Liverpool and establishing himself under Andoni Iraola? 👀
