Tottenham fans have been left worried after James Maddison was forced off with a suspected injury during Spurs’ impressive 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The midfielder went down in discomfort shortly after half-time, prompting medical staff to assess him before he was substituted. The incident has raised fresh concerns, especially after his recent return from a lengthy absence caused by a serious knee injury.
Maddison had only recently made his first start in almost 18 months and impressed against Coventry City, scoring a brilliant goal in Tottenham’s previous outing.
Following the Chelsea victory, the 29-year-old took to social media and posted four words: “Oh when the Spurs” alongside pictures from the match. However, he did not provide any update on his fitness.
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi remains hopeful that the problem is not serious, but confirmed that Maddison would undergo medical checks.
