Liverpool reportedly made a serious attempt to sign Georgian superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli in January 2025, but Paris Saint-Germain ultimately won the battle for his signature.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool were highly interested in bringing the talented winger to Anfield. However, PSG’s ambitious sporting project convinced the 25-year-old to choose Paris instead of the Premier League.
🔴 LIVERPOOL WEREN’T ALONE IN THE RACE
Romano revealed that Chelsea were also interested in Kvaratskhelia and even explored the possibility of including Mykhailo Mudryk in negotiations with Napoli.
Liverpool also pushed to complete the deal, but the move never progressed far enough to bring the Georgian international to Anfield.
PSG eventually secured his signature, and the decision has paid off handsomely, with Kvaratskhelia helping the French giants win the Champions League twice during his time in Paris, according to the report.
😳 COULD LIVERPOOL HAVE REGRETTED MISSING OUT?
Kvaratskhelia has reportedly registered 29 goals and 20 assists in 91 appearances for PSG. His performances have raised questions about what might have happened if Liverpool had won the transfer battle.
With Luis Díaz later leaving for Bayern Munich and Cody Gakpo experiencing inconsistent form, some Liverpool supporters may wonder whether Kvaratskhelia could have made a major difference to the Reds’ attack.
However, Liverpool now have several options on the left wing, including Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha, Victor Muñoz and Bradley Barcola.
Unfortunately, Kvaratskhelia has suffered a serious setback after reportedly rupturing his ACL during PSG’s victory over Barcelona, which could keep him out for an extended period.
