Mikel Arteta has revealed a surprising plan involving all 19 opposing Premier League managers following Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Arsenal secured all three points thanks to goals from Ezri Konsa and Gabriel Magalhães, moving level on points with Manchester City after the league leaders suffered a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.
However, Arteta’s attention quickly turned to a controversial incident during the match after he received a yellow card for stepping outside his technical area.
Arteta believes he is being treated unfairly. 👀
The Arsenal manager has now received two yellow cards this season and faces a one-match touchline ban if he receives another.
He questioned why other managers appear to get away with repeatedly leaving their technical areas without punishment.
In a humorous response during his press conference, Arteta revealed that he has been collecting video footage of rival managers allegedly crossing the touchline without being booked.
He even joked about installing sensors along the touchline, claiming he had footage of one manager stepping outside the technical area 36 times in just 10 minutes without receiving a yellow card.
Arteta said he now has a huge collection of images and videos to support his argument.
Despite his frustration, the Spaniard was pleased with Arsenal’s performance and mentality, especially after a demanding week that included a trip to Munich and a difficult turnaround before the Everton match.
He praised his players for overcoming the tight schedule and injury problems to deliver another important victory.
Under football rules, managers can receive yellow cards for repeatedly or clearly leaving their technical areas without respecting the boundaries. More serious misconduct can lead to a red card.
Arsenal will next face Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup before travelling to Anfield to take on Liverpool in the Premier League.
Do you think Arteta has a valid point, or should managers simply respect the touchline rules? 🤔👇
