Jacquet Gets 7, Wirtz Scores Just 2: Liverpool Player Ratings After Humiliating Defeat to Man City

One of Liverpool’s strongest defenders despite the team’s disappointing defensive display in the second half. Jacquet did a good job of limiting Erling Haaland’s influence for much of the match, recording 11 defensive contributions, the most among Liverpool players, and winning five duels. He could perhaps have done better for City’s third goal, but he still produced some impressive defensive moments.
Munoz – 6/10
Munoz showed impressive pace and attacking intent down the right flank, troubling Manchester City with intelligent forward runs. He regularly found himself in promising positions and helped Liverpool move the ball forward. However, a lack of support from his teammates meant his efforts did not produce the desired results.
Gravenberch – 5/10
Gravenberch delivered an eventful performance, looking impressive during the opening hour. He completed four dribbles and recorded seven defensive contributions, showing his quality in both areas of the pitch. However, his afternoon took a disastrous turn when he received two yellow cards and was sent off. Liverpool’s collapse began shortly after his dismissal.
Barcola – 5/10
Barcola worked hard to spark Liverpool’s attack, creating two notable chances and showing promise with several forward runs. Unfortunately, his final product was disappointing, and he struggled to pose a consistent goal threat. Despite his efforts, he was unable to make the attacking impact Liverpool desperately needed.
Van Dijk – 4/10
Van Dijk struggled to maintain Liverpool’s defensive organisation after the team was reduced to 10 men. The Dutch defender failed to rally his teammates effectively and was outmanoeuvred by Haaland for the striker’s goal. His positioning during several Manchester City attacks also raised questions as Liverpool’s defence struggled to cope with the pressure.
Wirtz – 2/10
This was another disappointing performance from Wirtz, who had an opportunity to demonstrate his quality following a promising international break. Instead, he struggled to make an impact in the final third, offering virtually no goal threat and sending his attempts well off target.
Although he managed to create a few promising situations, his overall creative influence was limited. Poor first touches and repeated losses of possession further undermined his performance, making it a difficult afternoon for the Liverpool midfielder.
