Zidane praises Liverpool defender Jeremy Jacquet after impressive France performance
Liverpool defender Jérémy Jacquet is already making a strong impression at international level, with France manager Zinedine Zidane praising the youngster following his latest display.
The 21-year-old earned his senior France debut against Belgium before retaining his place in the starting XI for Friday’s 1-1 draw with Italy.
Jacquet featured alongside Maxence Lacroix against Belgium and partnered Dayot Upamecano against Italy. He completed the entire match at the Stade de France, despite Upamecano being sent off late in the game.
Zidane was particularly impressed with the Liverpool centre-back’s performance.
“Very good. Very, very good. Brave,” Zidane said, highlighting Jacquet’s strength in one-on-one duels.
The defender has also received recognition for his impressive start at Liverpool, having been nominated for the September Premier League Player of the Month award.
Jacquet’s rapid rise has given Liverpool another reason to be excited about the young defender’s future at Anfield.
