Bernardo Silva Gives Four-Word Response After Clash With Martin Ødegaard
Bernardo Silva has broken his silence after being asked about his tense exchange with Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard during Portugal’s 2-1 win over Norway.
Portugal claimed victory in Oslo thanks to goals from João Félix and Gonçalo Ramos, while Erling Haaland scored Norway’s consolation goal.
Silva was introduced in the 87th minute and quickly became involved in a controversial moment. The Manchester City midfielder caught Ødegaard on the back of the legs shortly after the Arsenal star had released the ball, earning a yellow card for the challenge.
Ødegaard was clearly unhappy with the tackle and confronted Silva soon afterwards. The Arsenal captain was also spotted walking gingerly after the final whistle, sparking concerns about a possible injury.
When Silva was asked what Ødegaard had said to him following the incident, the Portuguese midfielder kept his answer short.
“It’s football, my friend.”
The pair could face each other again on October 4, when Portugal and Norway meet for a second time.
Ødegaard’s fitness remains a concern ahead of Norway’s upcoming clash with Wales. Arsenal will also be hoping their captain recovers fully before their Premier League return against Leeds United.
