Alisson’s Liverpool Future Uncertain as European Giants Consider Renewing Interest

Alisson Becker’s future at Liverpool has become increasingly uncertain, with Juventus reportedly keeping an eye on the goalkeeper as the Reds consider their long-term plans between the posts.

The Brazilian remains Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper and continues to deliver crucial performances. However, the club already have Giorgi Mamardashvili waiting in the wings, while there have been no new talks over a contract extension.

That has raised the possibility of Alisson leaving Anfield in 2027.

Juventus could revive Alisson interest
According to reports from Football Italia, Juventus could return for Alisson after their previous attempt to sign him during the summer failed.

Liverpool have yet to begin formal negotiations over a new contract, despite activating an option earlier this year that extended Alisson’s current deal until the end of the season.

Juventus’ need for a goalkeeper could also increase their interest. Kamil Grabara is expected to be sidelined for several months following cruciate ligament surgery, while experienced goalkeeper Neto has been brought in as cover.

Despite the speculation, Alisson’s performances suggest there is still plenty left in the tank. The 33-year-old has started every Premier League match this season and kept another clean sheet in Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Bournemouth.

His impressive reaction save from Evanilson in that match also earned him a Premier League Save of the Month nomination.

Alisson has now recorded 138 clean sheets in 336 appearances for Liverpool, placing him fourth on the club’s all-time list.

Liverpool face a difficult decision
Liverpool must now carefully balance Alisson’s continued importance with their plans for the future.

The goalkeeper has established himself as one of the club’s most significant signings of the modern era, and his performances remain strong enough that there is little reason to immediately replace him.

At the same time, Mamardashvili was brought in with the long-term future in mind, and Andoni Iraola has already given him opportunities in cup competitions.

Liverpool therefore face a choice: offer Alisson another contract and gradually introduce Mamardashvili into a bigger role, or allow the younger goalkeeper a clearer path towards becoming the club’s No.1.

If negotiations over Alisson’s future fail to progress, Juventus could see an opportunity to sign an experienced goalkeeper, potentially without paying a transfer fee.

For Liverpool, however, there may be little reason to rush the transition. If Alisson continues performing at his current level, gradually increasing Mamardashvili’s responsibilities while keeping the Brazilian could prove a smoother approach.
