Pedro Porro Breaks Silence Following Tottenham Injury Setback
Pedro Porro has spoken out after suffering another injury setback during Tottenham’s 3-2 home defeat to Aston Villa.
The defender was forced off just 19 minutes into the match after appearing to pick up a hamstring problem, adding to Tottenham’s growing concerns.
Porro had already missed much of pre-season following the World Cup and recently sat out the draw against Everton and the Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool because of a minor muscle issue.
Porro Sends Message to Fans
Although Tottenham have yet to confirm how long Porro will be sidelined, his latest social media message suggests he could be facing some time away from action.
The Spaniard said it is sometimes necessary to stop, take a breath and start again. He added that his focus is now on recovering, trusting the process and returning with even greater hunger and motivation.
Porro described the injury as another obstacle in his journey and ended his message by telling fans, “See you soon.”
The Spanish Football Federation has also confirmed that Porro will miss the upcoming international break and Spain’s Nations League fixtures. Archie Gray came on to replace him against Aston Villa.
De Zerbi Gives Injury Update
Roberto De Zerbi admitted after the match that he had already warned about the need to carefully manage Porro’s workload following the World Cup.
The Tottenham boss said he was not yet certain of the full extent of the problem but believed it could be a hamstring injury and hoped it would not prove serious.
Tottenham’s Difficult Start Continues
Tottenham’s problems have gone beyond injuries. Following Fulham’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United, Spurs are set to remain at the bottom of the Premier League during the international break.
After five league matches, Tottenham have managed just two draws and suffered three defeats.
Speaking to talkSPORT, De Zerbi admitted that the team’s struggles are partly psychological, although he insisted his players have the right attitude, work hard and possess quality.
However, he also described Tottenham as unusually fragile and inconsistent, saying he has never experienced a team with these issues during his 14 years as a coach.
De Zerbi expressed his frustration at Tottenham’s inability to maintain their level for an entire match, particularly after allowing opponents to score following periods of good football.
