Former Tottenham scout questions club’s reported interest in Dean Henderson
Tottenham Hotspur’s reported pursuit of Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson has been questioned by former Spurs scout Bryan King, who believes the England international may not be the elite solution the club needs.
With Guglielmo Vicario expected to leave after a dip in form and Antonin Kinsky yet to fully convince, Spurs are in the market for a new goalkeeper. Henderson has emerged as a leading target, but King feels the club should be aiming for a higher-calibre shot-stopper.
King argued that while Henderson is a capable goalkeeper, he does not belong in the same class as legendary English keepers such as Gordon Banks, Peter Shilton, or Ray Clemence. He also suggested Crystal Palace are unlikely to part with another key player after already selling defender Maxence Lacroix.
Despite the doubts, Henderson is widely regarded as a goalkeeper capable of playing for a Champions League-level club and could strengthen his claim to become England’s first-choice keeper ahead of Jordan Pickford if he makes the right move.
