Eddie Howe Breaks Silence on Arsenal’s Bruno Guimarães Interest as Transfer Talks Intensify
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has spoken publicly for the first time about Arsenal’s reported pursuit of captain Bruno Guimarães, amid growing speculation over the Brazilian’s future.
Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing the midfielder this summer, but Newcastle are said to value him at £100 million, while the Gunners are believed to be prepared to offer around £70 million.
Speaking about the situation, Howe reiterated that Newcastle have no desire to lose another key player after several major departures this summer. He also revealed that he has held private conversations with Guimarães before, during, and after the World Cup, describing the midfielder as both an outstanding player and an exceptional person.
Guimarães is currently on holiday following Brazil’s World Cup campaign and is expected to return to Newcastle for pre-season training at the end of July.
Meanwhile, Arsenal continue to explore several high-profile transfer targets as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad following their Premier League title-winning season. Reports have also linked the club with Vinícius Júnior, Cristian Romero, Julián Álvarez, Morgan Rogers, and Bradley Barcola.
