Tottenham Face €30m Price Tag for Brazilian Wonderkid Arthur Dias
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing highly rated Brazilian defender Arthur Dias from Athletico Paranaense.
Spurs are said to have made an offer of around €21 million for the 19-year-old, but the Brazilian club rejected the proposal and are reportedly demanding €30 million for his signature.
According to reports from Globo Esporte, Tottenham were looking to acquire 80% of Dias’ playing rights. The North London club have been monitoring the youngster for some time and could return with another offer in the future after extensively scouting his performances.
Tottenham impressed by Dias’ potential
Dias is regarded as one of the promising young defenders emerging from South America, and Tottenham believe he could become an important player for the club in the years ahead.
Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti is also reportedly monitoring the teenager and could consider him for the preliminary squad during the September international window.
A potential call-up to the Brazil national team would give Dias valuable exposure at the highest level and could increase interest from other major European clubs.
Spurs could invest for the future
Tottenham are focused on building a squad capable of competing for years to come, making an investment in a 19-year-old prospect like Dias potentially appealing.
Although the €30 million asking price is significant, Spurs have the financial resources to complete the deal, while Dias could develop considerably if he makes the move to the Premier League.
A transfer to Tottenham would give the young Brazilian the opportunity to test himself in one of Europe’s biggest leagues and potentially accelerate his development.
