Liverpool Hero Could Be Dropped Down the Pecking Order After Atletico Madrid Heroics

Liverpool Hero Could Face Drop in the Pecking Order as Reds Plan Another Midfield Signing

Alexis Mac Allister’s long-term future at Liverpool is becoming increasingly uncertain, despite the Argentine continuing to play an important role for the club.

Liverpool are reportedly planning to bring in another midfielder in the summer of 2027, with Bournemouth’s Alex Scott among the players being considered. The potential arrival could increase competition for places and potentially see Mac Allister fall further down the midfield pecking order.

The 27-year-old is already unhappy after Liverpool decided against offering him a new contract, especially after Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai received extensions.

Mac Allister still has a contract until 2028, meaning Liverpool are under no immediate pressure to sell. However, his contract situation has sparked growing speculation about his future.

On the pitch, though, Mac Allister continues to make his case impossible to ignore.

The midfielder scored a stunning winner in Liverpool’s 2-1 Champions League comeback against Atlético Madrid, firing a powerful left-footed effort from outside the box to complete the turnaround.

Rather than allowing the uncertainty surrounding his future to affect him, Mac Allister delivered on one of Liverpool’s biggest European nights.

With Gravenberch and Szoboszlai reportedly central to Liverpool’s long-term plans, another midfield addition could make Mac Allister’s position even more difficult.

However, his quality, experience and ability to control games mean Liverpool would need to think carefully before allowing the Argentine to leave.
