Liverpool Handed Golden Chance to Sign 29-Trophy Serial Winner on a Free Transfer

Liverpool Handed Chance to Sign 29-Trophy Winner Dani Carvajal on a Free Transfer

Liverpool have reportedly been offered the opportunity to sign one of Europe’s most decorated players on a free transfer, with Dani Carvajal currently available after leaving Real Madrid.

The Reds opted not to bring in another natural right-back during the summer transfer window, meaning Jeremie Frimpong remains their main senior option in the position, while Conor Bradley continues to recover from injury. Ronald Araujo, who is on loan, can also operate on the right side of defence.

Araujo impressed in that role against Ipswich on Friday, but Liverpool have now been presented with the chance to add another experienced option.

Carvajal offered to Liverpool

According to reports from TEAMtalk, intermediaries have offered Carvajal to Liverpool, Manchester City and Fulham as the veteran defender considers his next move.

The 34-year-old is keen to continue playing and has already held talks with several Spanish clubs since departing the Bernabeu. Interest has also reportedly emerged from MLS, the Saudi Pro League and elsewhere in Europe.

However, Liverpool are yet to make a firm commitment regarding a potential deal for the Spain international.

Would Liverpool consider the move?

Carvajal boasts an extraordinary résumé, having collected 29 trophies throughout his club and international career. His honours include six Champions League titles, four LaLiga crowns and six Intercontinental Cups with Real Madrid, as well as Euro 2024 with Spain.

The experienced full-back was reportedly earning around £172,000 per week during his final contract in Madrid, a figure that would make him one of Liverpool’s higher earners if they matched those terms.

Liverpool have generally avoided short-term moves for players approaching the latter stages of their careers, but Carvajal’s experience and winning mentality could provide valuable cover while Bradley remains unavailable.

There is, however, a major complication: Liverpool have already reached their permitted limit of non-homegrown players in their Premier League squad for the 2026/27 season, potentially preventing them from registering Carvajal until January.

As things stand, a move to Anfield appears unlikely, although the veteran defender would undoubtedly bring immense experience and a proven winning mentality if a short-term deal became possible.
