Spurs Plot £57m Move for PSG Star Who Previously Turned Down Arsenal
Tottenham are reportedly considering an ambitious move for Paris Saint-Germain defender Illia Zabarnyi as Roberto De Zerbi looks to strengthen his squad further.
Spurs have already spent around £228 million this summer, bringing in major additions including Sandro Tonali, Matheus Fernandes and Jean-Paul Van Hecke.
However, with Cristian Romero departing for Atletico Madrid, Tottenham are still searching for another centre-back. According to reports, Zabarnyi has emerged as a potential target.
The Ukrainian defender joined PSG from Bournemouth for around £57 million last summer and enjoyed a successful debut campaign, helping the French giants win the Champions League.
A return to the Premier League is now reportedly a realistic possibility, although Tottenham have so far only shown preliminary interest rather than opening serious negotiations.
The 23-year-old could also appeal to De Zerbi because of his ability to play out from the back and contribute to a possession-based style.
Zabarnyi Previously Rejected Arsenal
Zabarnyi could already have some popularity among Tottenham supporters after reportedly turning down Arsenal in 2024.
The Gunners had sent scouts to watch the defender during Euro 2024 and were believed to be interested in signing him. Instead, Zabarnyi chose to extend his Bournemouth contract until 2029 before eventually moving to PSG.
Tottenham are now monitoring his situation as they consider another major signing before the transfer window closes.
