Luis Enrique makes ‘dangerous’ comment when asked about Liverpool target Bradley Barcola

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has avoided giving a clear answer about Bradley Barcola’s future, saying it can be “dangerous” to focus too much on individual players.

Barcola remains one of Liverpool’s reported priorities this summer, although talks over a potential move have seemingly gone quiet in recent weeks. The 23-year-old France winger has been linked with a big-money switch to Anfield as Liverpool look for attacking reinforcements following Mohamed Salah’s departure.

French outlet L’Equipe has previously reported that Liverpool could make a significant offer for the PSG star, but his high valuation could make negotiations difficult.

When asked about Barcola, Enrique refused to discuss the player specifically and instead stressed that his attention remains on the PSG squad.

“I don’t know and I don’t want to speak about any player individually, because it’s always dangerous when you are asking something positive or negative about a player. I stay focused on my team,” Enrique said.

The PSG boss also declined to comment on potential transfer business involving Ferran Torres, insisting that his focus is only on players currently at the club.

While Enrique’s comments do not provide any major indication about Barcola’s future, Liverpool supporters may take some encouragement from the fact that he did not explicitly state that PSG are determined to keep the winger.

Liverpool’s chances of signing Barcola

There remains considerable uncertainty surrounding a possible transfer, particularly because Barcola is expected to command a huge fee.

The Evening Standard has claimed that Liverpool could even be prepared to abandon their pursuit if PSG’s asking price becomes too high.

Barcola, formerly of Lyon, has not always been a guaranteed starter in Paris, but he has consistently demonstrated his quality and could attract plenty of interest from other major European clubs.

For Liverpool, the decision could ultimately come down to whether they are willing to meet PSG’s valuation for the talented winger.
