RB Leipzig have stepped up their efforts to keep Yan Diomande at the club after turning down a significant offer from Liverpool.
Liverpool, who have been active early in the transfer window under Andoni Iraola, recently made a bold €100m (£86m) bid for the highly rated RB Leipzig winger. However, the German club swiftly rejected the offer, holding out for a fee closer to €130m (£112.6m).
Diomande, currently representing Ivory Coast at the World Cup, has emerged as Liverpool’s top attacking target, with the club keen to strengthen their forward line following Mohamed Salah’s departure. Despite the rejection, Liverpool are expected to return with an improved bid.
In response to growing interest, Leipzig are now preparing a new contract proposal for the 19-year-old, which would include a pay rise and a future release clause allowing him to leave in the summer of 2027. The club’s plan is to convince him to remain at least until then.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the situation remains open, with Leipzig pushing hard to keep the player while Liverpool remain determined to sign him. Diomande himself is said to be tempted by the idea of an immediate move after the World Cup.
Other top European clubs are also monitoring the situation as the winger continues to impress on the international stage.
Liverpool are also exploring alternative attacking options, including Bradley Barcola, Said El Mala, Yankuba Minteh, and Matías Fernández-Pardo, while also tracking defensive targets such as Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck, who is also attracting interest from Real Madrid.
