Andoni Iraola dealt setback as key player reportedly ‘keen on Real Madrid move’
SPORTENTZ reports that Andoni Iraola has suffered a setback after a top player is said to be keen on a switch to Real Madrid.
Since arriving at Liverpool after guiding Bournemouth to a strong sixth-place finish in his final season on the south coast, Iraola has already begun reshaping the squad and making early transfer moves.
One of his first signings came late Wednesday night, with Victor Muñoz set to arrive from Osasuna, despite interest from Newcastle United, before Liverpool stepped in to secure the deal.
Meanwhile, Ibrahima Konaté is expected to leave the club on a free transfer to Real Madrid.
Another transfer target could follow the same path, with Nico Schlotterbeck reportedly prioritising a move to the Bernabéu. The defender has long been linked as a potential successor to Konaté or Virgil van Dijk.
It is a significant blow for Liverpool’s plans as they look to strengthen their defence.
