Former England striker Gabby Agbonlahor believes Arsenal could part ways with Viktor Gyökeres after questioning the striker’s performance in their 2-0 victory over Everton.
Gyökeres was handed his first start of the season but struggled to make a significant impact, raising further questions about his place in Mikel Arteta’s plans.
Agbonlahor criticised the Swedish forward’s movement, suggesting he looked unusually slow during the match. He also claimed Arsenal would have been willing to include Gyökeres in a deal for Atlético Madrid star Julián Álvarez if the Argentine had agreed to join them.
Despite scoring 21 goals in all competitions since arriving from Sporting last summer, Gyökeres has struggled to secure regular playing time, with Kai Havertz preferred in the early stages of the campaign.
Arsenal remain admirers of Álvarez, although Barcelona are also reportedly interested in signing the former Manchester City forward.
However, Arteta has publicly backed Gyökeres, describing him as an important player and insisting that he will get his opportunities.
👀 Could Gyökeres really leave Arsenal next summer, or will he prove his critics wrong?
