Journalist Provides Fresh Update on Possible Mohamed Salah Return to Liverpool
Recent reports claiming that Cody Gakpo is looking to leave Liverpool appear to be inaccurate, with the Dutch forward not actively seeking a transfer ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Rumours surrounding Gakpo’s future gathered momentum after Liverpool’s decision to part ways with former manager Arne Slot, a development that reportedly caught the Netherlands international by surprise. However, journalist Alex Crook has rejected suggestions that the 27-year-old wants to leave Anfield.
According to Crook, reports of Gakpo pushing for an exit are far from the truth, with the attacker remaining fully committed to Liverpool despite recent speculation.
Since arriving from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, Gakpo has become an important member of the squad. He played a major role in Liverpool’s Premier League-winning 2024/25 season, registering 25 combined goals and assists. Although his numbers dipped to 15 goal contributions last season, Liverpool’s overall struggles affected several players across the team.
With four years still left on his current contract, Gakpo continues to attract transfer interest. Nevertheless, there is currently no indication that he intends to force a move away from the club.
Liverpool are still expected to strengthen their attacking options, particularly in the wide areas following Mohamed Salah’s departure. However, those recruitment plans are not believed to have any connection to Gakpo’s future.
Crook also addressed recent claims made by Ahmed El-Shenawy regarding a possible Salah return to Anfield, stating that there is presently no credible evidence to support such speculation.Suggested headline:
