Vincent Joseph Turns Down Liverpool Offer as Arsenal Secure Highly-Rated Youngster
Liverpool have suffered a setback in their academy setup after highly-rated 16-year-old forward Vincent Joseph decided to leave the club and continue his development with Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Joseph rejected Liverpool’s scholarship offer this summer, bringing an end to his nine-year spell with the Reds.
The teenager confirmed his departure on Instagram, thanking Liverpool for the memories and experiences he gained during his time at the club.
Joseph will now begin the next chapter of his development at Arsenal, who have moved quickly to secure his services following his Liverpool exit.
The youngster has already built an impressive reputation at youth level. He scored eight goals in nine appearances for England Under-16s, while also finding the net twice in three appearances for Liverpool Under-18s.
His finishing ability, movement and tactical awareness have helped mark him out as one of the promising young forwards in England.
For Liverpool, losing Joseph represents a notable academy blow, particularly after spending almost a decade developing the teenager.
Arsenal, meanwhile, continue to add highly-rated youngsters to their academy, with Joseph now becoming another attacking prospect for the Gunners to develop.
👀 Arsenal also keeping an eye on Rio Ngumoha
Joseph’s move could add another layer to the growing rivalry between Liverpool and Arsenal at youth level.
The Gunners have also reportedly shown interest in Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha. However, Liverpool currently consider the youngster unavailable and are reportedly working on a new contract.
For now, Joseph’s departure marks a significant academy change, as the promising teenager swaps Liverpool for Arsenal in search of the next step in his development.
