Tottenham Step Up Pursuit of £60m Attacker After Kroupi Setback
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly stepping up their search for attacking reinforcements after suffering a setback in their pursuit of Eli Junior Kroupi.
Despite an active summer that has already seen several high-profile arrivals, Roberto De Zerbi is still eager to strengthen his forward line before the transfer window closes. Spurs have bolstered their defence and midfield with the signings of Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, Martin Dubravka, Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi, but the club believes more quality is needed in attack.
Following encouraging performances during their pre-season tour, many supporters feel Tottenham still lack the cutting edge needed in the final third.
According to reports, Manchester City winger Savinho has emerged as one of Spurs’ top attacking targets, with the North London club reportedly working on a deal worth around £60 million. Tottenham previously tried to sign the Brazilian but were unable to agree terms with City.
The club is also believed to be planning the arrival of a second attacking player after Bournemouth youngster Eli Junior Kroupi suffered an injury that has effectively ended Spurs’ interest in signing him this summer.
Savinho’s versatility is viewed as a major advantage, with the 22-year-old capable of playing on either wing or in an advanced midfield role. His pace, dribbling ability and creativity make him an ideal fit for De Zerbi’s attacking system.
Although he wasn’t a regular starter for Manchester City last season, Savinho gained valuable experience in both the Premier League and Champions League, and Tottenham believe regular football could help him reach another level.
The Brazilian remains part of Manchester City’s pre-season squad, but that has not stopped speculation over a possible move to Spurs.
With the transfer window entering its final weeks, Tottenham are expected to continue pushing for more attacking additions as De Zerbi looks to complete his squad before the new Premier League season begins.
