Richarlison has sent Tottenham fans talking after sharing an emotional message following his return to competitive action for Spurs’ Under-21s.
The Brazilian forward found the net against Cheltenham Town in the Jersey Mike’s Trophy on Tuesday night, offering a welcome reminder of his attacking quality after months away from Tottenham’s senior team.
After the match, Richarlison took to Instagram and wrote:
“Happy to do what I love most in life. I was missing it!” ❤️⚽
His message quickly attracted attention, with several Tottenham players reacting to the post. Chelsea striker Joao Pedro also joined in, leaving pigeon and fire emojis in the comments.
The appearance was particularly significant because Richarlison has been left out of Tottenham’s 25-man Premier League squad by head coach Roberto De Zerbi, despite being involved in pre-season preparations.
The 29-year-old had reportedly explored the possibility of leaving during the summer transfer window, but potential moves failed to materialise. With no place in Spurs’ registered league squad, his immediate future remains uncertain.
Against Cheltenham, however, Richarlison made the most of his opportunity. He scored with a well-taken finish from James Rowswell’s cross, then converted his penalty in the shoot-out after the game finished 2-2. Tottenham ultimately lost the shoot-out 7-6.
His performance provided a positive moment during a frustrating spell, although it has not resolved the questions surrounding his future in north London.
With January offering Tottenham an opportunity to review their Premier League squad registration, Richarlison faces an uncertain wait to discover whether he can return to senior league action or pursue a fresh start elsewhere.
For now, the Brazilian appears happy simply to be back playing football—and his emotional message has given Spurs fans another reason to discuss his situation. 👀
