Arsenal could be facing a major injury concern after Bukayo Saka was forced off just 10 minutes into their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.
The England international went down in pain following a long-range pass and immediately signalled that he could not continue. Arsenal’s medical team briefly attended to him on the pitch before he limped off, with Eberechi Eze coming on as his replacement.
Eze wasted little time making his mark, putting Arsenal ahead after connecting with an excellent through ball from Martin Ødegaard and finishing past Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
However, Alphonso Davies equalised for the German side before Harry Kane converted a penalty in the second half to put Bayern in front. Declan Rice eventually rescued a point for the Gunners with an 82nd-minute equaliser.
Despite the positive result, Saka’s injury has become a major talking point ahead of Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures.
Speaking after the match, manager Mikel Arteta admitted that the situation was concerning, explaining that players experiencing sharp pain when being substituted can be a worrying sign.
Arsenal legend Martin Keown also expressed concern, suggesting that Saka could have suffered a thigh muscle injury, although the exact nature and severity of the problem remain unconfirmed.
Arsenal will now be hoping for positive news about their star winger as they prepare to face Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Will Saka be fit for Arsenal’s next match, or could the Gunners be without one of their most important players? 👀
