12 World-Class Premier League Players Right Now
The Premier League is packed with elite footballers, but only a select few can truly be described as world-class. Based on current form, influence, position, goals, assists and overall performances, just 12 players currently stand out at that level.
Manchester City
Gianluigi Donnarumma and Erling Haaland
Manchester City may no longer dominate English football as they once did, but they still have two players operating at the highest level.
Donnarumma has quickly established himself as a top goalkeeper since arriving as Ederson’s replacement, while Haaland continues to destroy Premier League defences with his incredible scoring record.
The Norwegian finished as the league’s top scorer again in 2025/26, having previously broken the Premier League record for goals in a single season.
Liverpool
Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai
Liverpool have only two players on the list following a disappointing 2025/26 campaign.
Despite being 35, Van Dijk remains one of the finest centre-backs in world football. Szoboszlai, meanwhile, was arguably Liverpool’s standout performer last season, contributing goals and assists while showing his versatility across midfield and defence.
Alisson Becker has previously been considered world-class, but injuries and inconsistent form have seen him drop out of the current ranking.
Arsenal
Declan Rice, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, David Raya and Jurrien Timber
Arsenal were one of the strongest teams in world football during 2025/26, and their number of world-class players reflects that.
Declan Rice has become a dominant force in midfield since his move to north London, while Saliba and Gabriel are regarded as one of the best centre-back partnerships in the game.
Behind them, David Raya has established himself among the world’s elite goalkeepers. Jurrien Timber has also been crucial to Arsenal’s success and is now considered one of the best right-backs around.
Manchester United
Bruno Fernandes
Bruno Fernandes remains Manchester United’s only representative.
Since arriving at Old Trafford in 2020, the Portuguese midfielder has consistently carried a huge creative burden for the club. Despite criticism over his on-field behaviour, his footballing ability remains undeniable.
Fernandes enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 season, recording 22 assists in 37 appearances and breaking the Premier League assist record.
Chelsea
Moises Caicedo and Reece James
Moises Caicedo has finally established himself among the world’s elite midfielders after overcoming early criticism following his huge transfer fee.
The Ecuadorian combines defensive strength with excellent technical ability and has become a dominant presence in Chelsea’s midfield.
Reece James also makes the cut. Although injuries have interrupted his progress, the Chelsea captain remains one of the best right-backs in world football when fully fit.
Cole Palmer, meanwhile, has fallen out of the category due to inconsistent performances.
The full list of 12 world-class Premier League players is therefore:
