Liverpool have no plans to abandon their pursuit of Bradley Barcola, despite reports suggesting they could walk away from negotiations with PSG.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says the Reds remain in daily contact with the French champions, with fresh discussions taking place as recently as Thursday.
Liverpool have already reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with Barcola, who reportedly wants the move to Anfield. Romano insists the winger is still available and that Liverpool are prepared to push hard to complete the transfer.
The biggest obstacle remains PSG’s asking price, which is believed to be around £145 million. Liverpool are currently unwilling to meet that figure, meaning the final outcome could depend on whether the French club lowers its demands.
Romano explained that the deal is still active and that negotiations are continuing, with the financial agreement now the key issue.
The timing could also depend on PSG’s plans to bring in Ferran Torres and potentially Mika Godts, moves that could affect Barcola’s position within Luis Enrique’s squad.
Liverpool are therefore playing a patient game, hoping PSG eventually becomes more open to a compromise. However, with the new Premier League season approaching quickly, delaying the deal carries its own risks.
The Reds still have several areas to strengthen, particularly at centre-forward, defensive midfield and right-back, while any new arrivals would also need time to adapt to Andoni Iraola’s system.
For now, though, Romano’s latest update makes one thing clear: Liverpool have not walked away from Barcola, and negotiations with PSG are still very much alive.
