MAJOR SPURS SETBACK! Tottenham dealt a huge blow as Cody Gakpo reveals why he has turned down the club’s advances

Tottenham Suffer Cody Gakpo Transfer Blow as Liverpool Star Makes His Stance Clear

Tottenham have suffered a setback in their efforts to sign Cody Gakpo, with the Liverpool forward reportedly making it clear that he has no plans to push for a move to north London this summer.

Spurs have been closely monitoring the Dutch international for several weeks, with Roberto De Zerbi keen to strengthen his attacking options. Tottenham have already invested heavily in their squad this summer, bringing in players including Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Jan Paul van Hecke and Martin Dubravka.

Reports had suggested that Spurs could test Liverpool’s resolve with a package worth around £70 million in an attempt to bring Gakpo to Tottenham and add another attacking threat to De Zerbi’s squad.

However, Liverpool have shown little interest in selling the 27-year-old. Gakpo is under contract at Anfield until 2030 and remains an important part of new manager Andoni Iraola’s plans, particularly following Mohamed Salah’s departure and Hugo Ekitike’s injury.

Gakpo himself is understood to share Liverpool’s stance. The forward reportedly remains fully committed to the project at Anfield and has no desire to force an exit despite Tottenham’s interest.

The Dutchman is also said to be focused on continuing to compete at the highest level of European football, making a move away from Liverpool difficult to imagine unless the situation changes significantly.

For Tottenham, Gakpo’s position represents a significant obstacle, although it does not necessarily end their hopes of signing him. Any potential transfer was always expected to depend heavily on whether Liverpool were prepared to negotiate.

With the transfer window approaching its closing stages, Spurs are continuing to explore alternative attacking options. Manchester City winger Savinho remains among the players reportedly on De Zerbi’s radar as Tottenham look to complete their squad overhaul.
