JACQUET SHINES WITH 7/10, WIRTZ STRUGGLES WITH 2/10 AS LIVERPOOL SUFFER 3-0 DEFEAT TO MAN CITY
Liverpool endured a disappointing afternoon at Anfield, suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat against Manchester City. While some players showed promising performances, others struggled to make an impact as the Reds fell short.
Jeremy Jacquet – 7/10
Jacquet was arguably Liverpool’s standout defender despite the team’s defensive struggles in the second half. He did a good job limiting Erling Haaland’s influence for much of the match, recording 11 defensive contributions and winning five duels. Although he could have done better for City’s third goal, his overall defensive display was encouraging.
Victor Munoz – 6/10
Munoz impressed with his pace and attacking runs down the right flank. He found promising positions and tried to push Liverpool forward, but a lack of support from his teammates limited his effectiveness.
Ryan Gravenberch – 5/10
Gravenberch delivered a mixed performance. He looked impressive during the opening hour, completing four dribbles and making seven defensive contributions. However, his afternoon ended in disappointment after he received two yellow cards and was sent off. Liverpool subsequently struggled to contain City.
Bradley Barcola – 4.5/10
Barcola worked hard to create attacking opportunities and produced two notable chances. Despite showing some promise with his forward runs, his finishing and final decision-making were disappointing, and he failed to pose a consistent threat in front of goal.
Virgil van Dijk – 4.5/10
Van Dijk struggled to organise Liverpool’s defence after the team was reduced to 10 men. He was beaten by Haaland for the striker’s goal, while some of his positioning during City’s attacking moves also raised concerns.
Florian Wirtz – 2/10
Wirtz endured a difficult afternoon, failing to make the desired impact in attack after returning from international duty. His attempts at goal were inaccurate, and he struggled to create a genuine scoring threat.
Although the German midfielder showed glimpses of creativity, his overall influence was limited. Poor first touches and repeated losses of possession further contributed to a frustrating performance.
