Liverpool supporter and FA referee Brandon Grimes, from Seaham, County Durham, has tragically died in a hit-and-run in Florida at just 26 years old.
Brandon had travelled to Florida on holiday with a friend when the incident occurred on September 25. His family and partner, David Jackson, are now trying to understand what happened while making arrangements to bring him home to the UK.
His family described Brandon as a “gentle, bright, funny, and wonderful soul” who brought love and happiness to everyone around him. They said his sudden death has left the entire family devastated.
David said the family currently have “more questions than answers” and are struggling to get information about the circumstances surrounding the incident. He said Brandon had attempted to contact him shortly before his death.
A passionate football fan, Brandon supported both Liverpool and England and was also an FA referee. David said the couple had been together since February and had already been making plans for their future.
The family has launched a GoFundMe appeal to help cover the cost of repatriating Brandon’s body to the UK. They are also seeking an international funeral director to assist with the process.
Liverpool supporters have since been sharing tributes and messages of support for Brandon’s family as they mourn his tragic passing.
