Tottenham Receive Pedro Porro Injury Boost as Earlier Return Becomes Possible

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly received encouraging news regarding Pedro Porro’s recovery, with the right-back working extensively in Spain as he attempts to return from his hamstring injury ahead of schedule.

Porro picked up the injury just 19 minutes into Tottenham’s 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa before the international break. At the time, it was expected that the defender could be unavailable for around four to six weeks.

Instead of simply resting during the recovery period, Porro travelled back to his native Extremadura during the international break and reunited with specialists he has worked with for several years.

The Spurs defender has been completing additional rehabilitation and fitness sessions with physiotherapist David de la Hera at the Axis Polyclinic in Badajoz. He also visited the SPZ Iron training facility, where specialists worked with him on different aspects of his physical conditioning.

His rehabilitation programme is reportedly targeting more than just the hamstring injury, with additional focus on strengthening the surrounding muscles and ensuring he reaches full fitness before returning to competitive football.

That extra work could help Porro make his comeback sooner than initially anticipated.

The 27-year-old is unlikely to feature when Tottenham face Manchester United on October 10, but there is growing optimism that he could be available for the home fixture against Coventry on October 19.

If that proves too early, another possible return date could be the London derby against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on October 24.

Porro’s comeback would provide a significant boost to Roberto De Zerbi, particularly after Tottenham’s difficult start to the season. The Spanish international is an important part of the Spurs squad, and his return would give the manager another experienced option at right-back.

In the meantime, Archie Gray is expected to continue filling in at the position while Porro completes his rehabilitation.
