Liverpool make their stance clear as Florian Wirtz attracts growing January transfer interest

Liverpool Make Decision on Florian Wirtz Amid Growing January Interest

Liverpool are reportedly expecting interest in Florian Wirtz when the January transfer window opens, but the club are not considering selling the German midfielder.

The 23-year-old has struggled to consistently reproduce his best form since arriving at Anfield in a deal worth up to £116 million from Bayer Leverkusen.

Despite his inconsistent performances, manager Andoni Iraola continues to view Wirtz as an important player in his plans.

Reports suggest Bayern Munich and other clubs could test Liverpool’s resolve with January offers. However, the Reds are expected to reject any approaches for the midfielder.

Wirtz has started all four of Liverpool’s Premier League matches this season but has managed just one assist in five competitive appearances. He is also currently without a goal in his last 12 matches for club and country.

There have nevertheless been positive moments, particularly in Europe, where his passing and technical ability have remained evident.

Iraola has also publicly defended Wirtz, pointing out that his contribution cannot be measured solely through goals and assists. The Liverpool boss has indicated that the club are still working to find the best role for the midfielder.

Liverpool are therefore expected to remain patient rather than consider a January sale. The club invested heavily to bring Wirtz to Anfield and appear determined to give him time to adapt and rediscover his best form.

With interest from major European clubs potentially growing, the January window could bring fresh speculation surrounding Wirtz, but Liverpool currently have no intention of allowing their record signing to leave.
