Liverpool Fans Turn on ‘Fraud’ Szoboszlai After Frustrating Fulham Draw

Liverpool supporters have launched a fierce attack on Dominik Szoboszlai following the Reds’ disappointing 0-0 draw against Fulham at Anfield.

After producing a more encouraging display against Atletico Madrid in midweek, expectations were high that Liverpool would return to winning ways in the Premier League. Instead, Andoni Iraola’s side struggled to create clear-cut opportunities against a Fulham team they were expected to beat.

Liverpool registered 11 shots but managed just two on target, with new £120 million signing Bradley Barcola coming closest after combining with Alexander Isak early in the second half.

However, much of the criticism from supporters was directed at Szoboszlai rather than the forwards.

The Hungarian midfielder, who was previously tipped as a potential future Liverpool captain, was accused by some fans of being too passive and ineffective in midfield.

One supporter wrote: “Szoboszlai walks around like he’s Zinedine Zidane, but he’s crap.”

Another described him as “the biggest fraud in football history”, while a third questioned Liverpool’s decision to hand him a new contract.

His statistics against Fulham also failed to help his case. Szoboszlai did not win a single tackle and won just one of his 10 duels, highlighting Liverpool’s wider struggles in midfield.

One fan argued that the midfielder should be moved into a different position, saying he cannot operate effectively as a No. 8 in a deep midfield role if he is not winning tackles, tracking runners or consistently finding line-breaking passes.

The criticism comes as Liverpool continue to search for the right balance in midfield. Ryan Gravenberch has also been accused of drifting out of position, while the club’s failure to sign a traditional defensive midfielder during the summer has once again come under scrutiny.

Liverpool may remain unbeaten under Iraola, but the goalless draw against Fulham has raised fresh questions about whether their midfield is strong enough to challenge at the highest level.
