Vicario Hits Back at Tottenham After Dull Forest Draw — Spurs Fans Stunned

Guglielmo Vicario has officially brought his Tottenham journey to an end after completing a loan move to Juventus, with the Serie A club reportedly holding an £8.5 million option to sign the goalkeeper permanently next summer.

The 29-year-old’s departure had been looking increasingly likely since the latter stages of last season, when Antonin Kinsky displaced him as Tottenham’s first-choice goalkeeper. Vicario came under significant criticism during his final campaign, although his spell in North London also featured some major moments.

During his first season, he played an important role in helping Spurs secure a fifth-place finish before later being part of the squad that won the Europa League.

Despite the difficulties surrounding his final months at Tottenham, Vicario has maintained a professional attitude both during his struggles and following his departure.

Speaking to Tuttosport, the Italian goalkeeper made it clear that he has no desire to revisit the circumstances behind his exit. He acknowledged that certain situations at Tottenham did not work out as expected but insisted that he would rather concentrate on the present and his new challenge in Italy.

Vicario also explained how his time abroad has contributed to his personal and professional development. Experiencing different cultures, languages, dressing rooms and footballing philosophies, he believes, has helped make him a more mature and well-rounded player.

He described Juventus as a club with enormous history, ambition and infrastructure, adding that the challenge of succeeding in Turin will motivate him every day.

Although Roberto De Zerbi ultimately replaced Vicario with Kinsky as Tottenham battled against relegation, there appears to be no resentment between the goalkeeper and his former manager.

Vicario spoke positively about their relationship, describing De Zerbi as genuine, direct and true to his word. He also revealed that he personally thanked the manager when his Juventus move was completed, crediting him for supporting his next career step.

Vicario will now hope to put his difficult Tottenham ending behind him and use his move to Juventus as the launchpad for a successful new chapter in Turin.
