Aston Villa already line up surprise Ezri Konsa replacement after Arsenal agree £50m deal
Ezri Konsa is reportedly on the verge of leaving Aston Villa for Arsenal, and Villa have wasted little time searching for a replacement.
The 28-year-old defender is set to end his seven-year spell at Villa Park after Arsenal agreed a £50 million deal plus add-ons for his signature. Konsa is expected to undergo his medical before completing the move to the Emirates.
Konsa joined Villa from Brentford for £12m in 2019 and went on to make 286 appearances for the club, establishing himself as an England international.
His departure would leave Unai Emery with a major gap to fill in defence, but Villa have already identified a potential target.
According to reports, Chelsea centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo is among the options being considered to replace Konsa.
Chelsea are reportedly open to offers for the 28-year-old, who has been training away from the main first-team group as the club looks to trim its squad.
Tosin joined Chelsea on a free transfer in 2024 after spells with Manchester City and Fulham. However, with several defenders now ahead of him in the pecking order, his future at Stamford Bridge looks increasingly uncertain.
Aston Villa could now face competition from Marseille, Benfica and Sevilla for his signature.
Although Tosin may not immediately excite Villa supporters, his physical presence and aerial strength could make him a useful addition. Standing at 6ft 5in, he offers a significant threat from set pieces and could also help address Villa’s defensive weaknesses from dead-ball situations.
He is also comfortable in possession and possesses strong passing ability, qualities that made Konsa such an important part of Villa’s defence.
With Chelsea potentially willing to sell, Tosin could prove to be a relatively affordable option for Villa as they look to replace Konsa.
