ALAN SHEARER REVEALS TWO FACTORS THAT COULD SWAY TONALI TOWARDS SPURS — BUT ADMITS HE’D BE SURPRISED

Alan Shearer believes two key factors could persuade Sandro Tonali to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer — the appeal of London and the arrival of Roberto De Zerbi — but the Newcastle legend remains unconvinced by the potential move.

Spurs have reportedly submitted an £80 million offer for the Italian midfielder, though Newcastle rejected the bid and continue to value him at £100 million. Despite interest from Arsenal and Manchester City, Tottenham are said to be pushing hard for his signature.

Speaking to Betfair, Shearer questioned why Tonali would swap Newcastle for a Tottenham side that has struggled in recent seasons.

“I understand the attraction of London, but moving to Spurs after the way they’ve performed over the last two years would be a surprising career decision for Tonali,” Shearer said.

He added that if the midfielder is keen to leave, Newcastle should stand firm on their valuation, insisting that any deal should start at £100 million.

Even so, Tottenham still have plenty to offer. The club boasts world-class facilities, ended their long trophy drought by winning the Europa League last season, and have ambitions of returning to the top under De Zerbi. With a major recruitment drive underway, Spurs believe Tonali could play a key role in their resurgence.
