Liverpool are reportedly stepping up their interest in Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu as Andoni Iraola looks to strengthen his defence ahead of the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old Frenchman has emerged as a potential target because of his versatility, with the ability to play both centre-back and right-back — two positions where Liverpool have experienced injury problems this season.
According to reports, Liverpool view Kalulu as a sensible option to improve their defensive depth, particularly after Jeremie Frimpong suffered another injury against Brentford, while Conor Bradley has also spent a significant period on the sidelines.
Kalulu has been a reliable performer for Juventus this season, featuring in every match. His contract runs until 2029, meaning the Italian giants are under no immediate pressure to sell him.
Manchester United are also reportedly monitoring the defender, potentially increasing competition for his signature.
France manager Didier Deschamps has previously praised Kalulu’s performances, highlighting his strong form at Juventus and his earlier contributions at AC Milan.
His pace, defensive ability and experience in Italian and European football could make him a valuable addition to Iraola’s squad.
However, convincing Juventus to sell in January could prove difficult, and Liverpool may need to submit a significant offer to stand a chance of completing the deal.
With defensive injuries continuing to cause concern, will Liverpool make their move for Kalulu in January, or wait until the summer? 👀🔴
