Tottenham Hotspur have received a major boost, with Dejan Kulusevski edging closer to a long-awaited return after spending over 500 days on the sidelines.
The Swedish winger suffered a serious knee injury against Crystal Palace in May 2025, forcing him to miss Tottenham’s Europa League final triumph over Manchester United.
His recovery turned into a lengthy nightmare, with the former Juventus star missing an extended period of football as he battled to regain full fitness.
However, there is finally light at the end of the tunnel. Kulusevski has returned to training and could make the matchday squad for Spurs’ upcoming Premier League clash against Coventry City.
Manager Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that the club’s medical team had cleared the winger to be considered for a place on the bench.
Speaking about the positive development, De Zerbi revealed that Kulusevski was delighted when he received the news.
The Tottenham boss said the winger had suffered enormously during his recovery and described the update as one of the club’s biggest positives since their game against Everton.
Kulusevski’s injury proved more complicated than initially expected. After undergoing surgery on his kneecap, he required another minor procedure, while cartilage damage made his recovery particularly challenging.
Sweden’s team doctor, Jonas Werner, previously explained that the affected area was under considerable stress, meaning the injury needed more time to heal before Kulusevski could safely return to competitive football.
His prolonged absence also ended his hopes of making Sweden’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Now, Tottenham will be hoping the 26-year-old can finally put his injury troubles behind him and make a difference during the remainder of the campaign.
Kulusevski has made 146 appearances for Spurs since initially joining on loan in 2022 before completing a permanent move.
Could his return be the boost Tottenham desperately need? 👀⚪
