Liverpool Face Fresh Injury Worry Ahead of Man City Clash as Szoboszlai and Mac Allister Absence Raises Questions
Liverpool could be without midfield stars Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister for their crucial Premier League showdown against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.
Concerns emerged after journalist Keefe Irwin shared footage of Liverpool arriving at their team hotel, claiming that neither midfielder was seen getting off the team bus.
However, it remains unclear whether the pair will miss the match, as they may have arrived separately. Liverpool are yet to confirm their availability.
The uncertainty comes at a difficult time for the Reds, who are already dealing with several injury setbacks. Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo have been ruled out, while Hugo Ekitike is expected to remain unavailable for several more weeks because of an Achilles injury. Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni are also sidelined with knee problems.
Liverpool will host Manchester City on Sunday, October 11, with kick-off scheduled for 4:30 pm UK time.
Both sides remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season, but City have made a stronger start. Pep Guardiola’s men have won all five of their matches and sit top of the table with 15 points, while Liverpool have recorded two victories and three draws.
The match will be Liverpool’s first outing since the international break. Szoboszlai featured heavily for Hungary, playing 347 minutes across four matches in 11 days. His workload could be a factor as Liverpool prepare for the demanding fixture.
Mac Allister, meanwhile, represented Argentina but played just 22 minutes across three matches in seven days, with the national team winning all three friendlies.
Liverpool now face an anxious wait for confirmation of their squad ahead of the City encounter. Losing both midfielders would be a significant setback against one of their toughest opponents.
After Sunday’s showdown, Liverpool are scheduled to face LASK in the Champions League on October 14 before travelling to Brentford for a Premier League fixture on October 17.
For now, Liverpool supporters will have to wait for official confirmation to discover whether Szoboszlai and Mac Allister will be available for the big game.
