Erling Haaland and Enzo Maresca have avoided getting involved in discussions surrounding Manchester City’s Premier League financial misconduct verdict, choosing instead to focus on their upcoming showdown with Liverpool.
The pair made it clear that their attention is firmly on the crucial fixture, with City preparing to face the Reds at Anfield after the international break.
Maresca expressed his confidence in the club, insisting that the players are concentrating on securing victory against Liverpool.
“Our players are just focused on how we can beat Liverpool, with the fans, and try to win at Anfield,” he explained.
The City coach also added: “We completely trust the club.”
Meanwhile, Haaland appeared unfazed by the controversy, suggesting that Manchester City supporters travelling to Liverpool would enjoy the experience.
However, the comments come amid significant controversy surrounding City’s financial case. According to the report, an independent commission found the club guilty of 114 out of 115 alleged breaches, although City retain the right to appeal.
