Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo could reportedly miss several matches after suffering an ankle injury while representing the Netherlands during the international break.
The 27-year-old was forced off after a heavy challenge from Serbia midfielder Sasa Lukic, with Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink reporting that Gakpo is expected to spend several weeks on the sidelines following further medical examinations.
The injury comes at an unfortunate time for Liverpool, with Gakpo having made an impressive start to the 2026/27 season. He has contributed six goals or assists in six appearances across the Premier League and Carabao Cup.

If his recovery takes around three weeks, Gakpo could potentially miss Liverpool’s huge clash with Manchester City on October 11, as well as games against LASK and Brentford.

With Gakpo potentially unavailable, Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola may have to turn to players such as Victor Munoz or Rio Ngumoha to fill the gap.
