Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has officially confirmed that Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney will return to the club this summer after agreeing to a pre-contract. The 27-year-old left-back, who came through the Celtic academy, departed for Arsenal in 2019 for a then-record £25 million transfer fee.
Rodgers expressed his excitement about Tierney’s return, stating:
“Kieran is not just a fantastic player but also someone who embodies everything this club stands for. We’re delighted to welcome him back home, and we know how much he means to the fans.”
Tierney, a lifelong Celtic fan, made 170 appearances for the Hoops during his first spell, winning multiple league titles, Scottish Cups, and League Cups. His time at Arsenal saw him lift the FA Cup in 2020, but injuries and limited game time this season have fueled speculation about his future.
